The Vineyard

Created in 1982 in Saint-Pierre on Île d'Orléans, the Vineyard of the Isle of Bacchus has proven to be a pioneer in the history of Quebec viticulture.

The vineyard takes its name from the old appellation given to the island of Orleans by Jacques Cartier himself in 1535 when he named it "Isle of Bacchus" because of the abundance of wild vines he found there at the time.

The vineyard now cultivates 11 hectares of vines on the island, whose grape varieties are adapted to the Quebec climate. The expertise developed over 30 years allows it to offer high-quality products.

Viticulture

The vineyard has an advantageous topology, terraced about 30 meters above the level of the Saint Lawrence River with a south, southwest orientation, which gives it a beneficial microclimate. In fact, there is no significant frost recorded for the period from mid-May to mid-October, which ensures good maturity of our grapes and results in quality harvests.

The vineyards of the Isle de Bacchus estate extend over three separate plots in the village of Saint-Pierre, totaling nearly 35,000 vines.

The main grape varieties are:

    Vandal-cliche

  • Holy Cross

  • Geisenheim

  • Marshal Foch

  • Eona

  • Vidal

  • White Acadia

  • White Frontenac

  • Marquette

Vintage

Every year, it's a tradition to welcome a team of volunteer harvesters to the vineyard, in addition to our employees. During harvest days, you'll discover the art of harvesting and receive extensive explanations about the vine's cycle, all in a spirit of conviviality and mutual support.

We also offer dinner accompanied by our wines, as well as a tour of the vineyard followed by a guided tasting of our products. In addition, harvesters have the opportunity to purchase wines at the same price as our employees.

The harvest takes place from the end of September to mid-October, depending on the will of Mother Nature.

If you are interested in a rewarding experience, contact us starting August 15th by phone or email to reserve your spot ($). You can come alone or in a group.
